TESTIMONIAL

Yin yoga can be uncomfortable, Gina with her adept,  guides you through the unease of the poses. Her restorative yoga is simply restful!

Judy,
Retiree, Violinist, Activist

Gina has a kind and gentle approach to teaching the class, and a calm, comforting voice and manner, with instructions that are clear and easy to follow. The pace and level are perfect for me, and she constantly offers modifications suitable for all levels of experience and skill. She periodically has us try more challenging postures and watches us closely to give support and corrections. I love it when she uses the singing bowl, which helps me feel calmer and relaxed.

Kate,
Yoga Student

Gina’s calm, grounding presence along with her knack for instruction makes practice with Gina a true delight.  Having known her for several years,  I’ve always been grateful for her warm and welcoming nature as well as her ability to connect with people.  Practicing with Gina is a joyful act of self-care.

Gina has a way of making yoga accessible and available to everyone. I really appreciate how she clearly and compassionately explains poses and provides modifications and variations for all types of ability, and you have the freedom and permission to take your practice wherever you want to take it, whatever you need in that moment.

Rebecca,
Yoga Student

I always leave Gina's classes feeling relaxed and balanced. At each class she introduces different poses and stretches, finding the just right amount of challenge while incorporating restorative practice. Her classes are for all levels. Take one, you won't regret it!

Ajit,
Engineer & Meditation Student

You have been very motivating for me to continue Meditation & yoga. Sometimes I get slack sometimes, but attending your session brings me to basics of meditation.

I started my yoga practice 8 years ago at the age of 65.  Gina was one of my first instructors, I attended all of her classes at the studio.  She quickly became my favorite while she continued her studies always bringing new poses to motivate the students to expanding their practice.  Over the years we have practiced together in studios, at a YTA retreat and in her home.  Currently I turn to YouTube for Gina to keep with our social distancing.

Marjorie,
Meditation Student

As I watched my team’s anxiety growing through the many internal changes and challenges we were facing, I decided something needed to be done. Gina was the first person to come to my mind when I thought about methods of coping with anxiety. I had already participated in a few of Gina’s meditation sessions in the past and I knew I could turn to her at this time of need. Gina was extremely responsive and knew exactly what kind of workshop my team would benefit from. She led the “Meditation for Anxiety” workshop virtually and blew my expectations way out of the water. Gina discussed the benefits of meditation,  led 3 meditation exercises, 2 writing activities, discussed how anxiety manifests itself within our bodies, and provided us with some helpful coping tips. I am so grateful for Gina’s professionalism and just the 45 minutes session alone brought me to a calmer state that I was desperate for. Thank you, Gina!

ABOUT

About

Gina Callender, 500 RYT, E-RYT 200, YACEP, has been practicing yoga for over 20 years, and completed her 200 hour teacher training at YogaWorks in Westchester in 2013.  In 2014, Gina started her 500 hour OM yoga teacher training (YTT) with Cyndi Lee and completed that training in June 2015. This training included OM Meditation TT levels 1 & 2, Pranayama TT and Restorative YTT modules, as well as any additional 18 hours in anatomy with Jason Ray Brown.  In 2019, Gina completed Cyndi's OM Meditation TT level 3.  Most recently, she completed 14 hours of Nyasa Yoga Nidra TT with Nya Patrinos and plans to incorporate Yoga Nidra into her yoga classes for Deep Relaxation.

Gina completed 55 hours of Yin Yoga Teacher Training Levels 1 & 2 with Corina Benner. She is always looking to learn and is constantly taking workshops to better understand and deepen her practice and share what she learns with her students.

Gina also volunteers on two non-profit boards.  Yoga Teachers Association of the Hudson Valley brings quality continuing education programing to yoga teachers in our community.  CWEEL (Council on Women in Energy & Environmental Leadership) empowers and promotes women in energy and environmental industries.

To Gina, yoga is a transformative philosophy that goes beyond asanas, or poses, that the Western world associates with “yoga”. Yoga teaches us to slow down, be more conscious of our bodies and the world around us and can have huge physical and mental benefits when practices regularly. Some of these benefits include: lower blood pressure, more relaxed, greater flexibility and balance. Gina puts a heavy emphasis on the importance and benefits of Meditation, Savasana, Yin and Restorative Yoga as a way to relax the parasympathetic nervous system.

Gina is available for private one on one yoga and meditation classes, small group classes and corporate classes for yoga and meditation.
